About

Posted by African Conservatives Assembly · August 07, 2019 1:36 AM

The African Conservatives Assembly’s purpose is to bring Africans back to Conservatism. Africans born on the continent or in the diaspora are Conservatives. They are taught of a one Supreme Being (God). Africans know God by several names based on their religion, culture and languages. Some might acknowledge smaller gods as servants or helpers of the Supreme Being.

Africans are industrious and self-reliant. They work their farms, own small businesses, pursue education, relying on their God given talent and strengths not the government because government assistance does not exist.

Africans are fiscal Conservatives. Money management is taught at a young age. Younger children have run fruit stands, sell kerosene on roadsides and make their own money. They take their parent’s farm produce, arts, crafts, palm oil, rice, beans etc. to the market to sell. I am yet to find one who believe that giving a huge portion of that to a distance big government to spend on frivolities is the best thing to do.

Africans are social and religious Conservatives holding their family, friends and religion close to their chest. Have never met one who agrees with homosexuality or abortion. In some countries those acts are criminalized.

For some people, the words African and Conservatives seems to be an anomaly. This is because Africans are mostly lumped together with African Americans and treated as a liberal bloc.  But as explained above, Africans are born conservatives.

As an Auxiliary of the Republican Party of Texas, we subscribed to the following Principles:

  1. “The laws of nature and nature’s God,” and we support the strict adherence to the original language and intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.
  2. The sanctity of innocent human life, created in the image of God, which should be protected from fertilization to natural death.
  3. Preserving American and Texas sovereignty and freedom.
  4. Limiting government power to those items enumerated in the United States and Texas Constitutions.
  5. Personal accountability and responsibility.
  6. Self-sufficient families, founded on the traditional marriage of a natural man and a natural woman.
  7. Having an educated population, with parents having the freedom of choice for the education of their children.
  8. The inalienable right of all people to defend themselves and their property.
  9. A free enterprise society unencumbered by government interference or subsidies.
  10. Honoring all of those that serve and protect our freedom.

Our Goals

Posted by African Conservatives Assembly · August 06, 2019 9:48 PM

The main goals of African Conservatives Assembly are to cultivate and promote the involvement of African immigrants from all African countries in the Conservative Movement and the political process of their adopted country, the United States of America.

We are identifying, educating, promoting, and supporting qualified Conservative African candidates running for political offices at all levels in the country.

We are providing a platform and a unified voice for our African immigrant citizen communities to agitate for their political and economic future and to asked for their own slice of the public cake and a seat at the table through political participation. We are promoting Conservative views and ideals in African community.

There are 55 countries on the African Continent. There are more than 300 different languages spoken on the continent.  Those 55 countries are represented in the United States.

According to the Pew Research Center, there were about 2.1 Million African Immigrants in the United States in 2015. It also stated that the number seems to double every decade. That is saying that by 2025 there will be 4.2 Million Africans in the United States. The Largest population center is the Washington DC-Virginia-Maryland area which has 171,000 (2010 Census)

In Texas:

There are two major African Population centers in Texas. Houston (about 200,000) and Dallas-Fort Worth (64,300,) 2010 Census Estimate. We know that birth rate, migration and naturalization have greatly changed the figures since then.

Houston Chronicle reported in January 2018 that Nigerians are the most educated ethnic group in the Houston Metro are. 17% have Masters, 4% have doctorates.

This is a sizable population that can tip an election one way or the other, yet we are not using this number to politically better our position. It is time we unify under the common cause of Conservatism and make good use of our numbers and our financial power to elect one of our own or support candidates we can hold accountable to do things that favors our community.

What we are doing

We are going into our communities (national days, conventions, churches, other events), speaking to our people individually and in small groups in their languages to refresh their memory about their Conservative upbringing and values. That Conservative is what we really are.

We are reminding our people of civic participation in their adopted country. There is widespread civic participation in the community. People belong to 2-4 civic clubs within the community but no participation in the American political system. Most of the political parties back in Africa have supporters and supporters clubs here in the United States. This shows robust participation in politics back in their countries of birth but we are not participating in the politics of where we live in and pay taxes every day.

We are spreading the message that political participation where you live and invest is more important than where you came from and where to some extent we are regarded now as strangers because we only visit about once a year or less.

We are calling on all Africans to come out and participate, vote, it is not "their thing", but for our children and our children's children . We are calling on all Africans to join us.
